Linda M. Higgins

Linda M. Higgins, 80, died on June 15, 2018, at her home at Smith Mountain Lake, VA surrounded by her loving family.  Linda was born on January 18, 1938 in Glens Falls, New York, the daughter of Raymond Howard and Margaret (Simpson) Howard. Linda graduated from Vincentian Institute in Albany, New York and the University of Maryland.  Linda married Thomas Higgins in 1958. Tom’s Air Force career took them to places like Bermuda and Spain before settling in Maryland. Linda retired from the United States Government as a member of the Senior Executive Service. Linda and Tom retired to Smith Mountain Lake in 1995. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in April 2018. Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Tom; her daughter, Debbie Higgins and her husband Jon and daughter Christina; her daughter, Sandy Coblentz and her husband Bill and their two children Matt and Kathleen; and two great-grandsons, Vin and Declan. Linda’s family was her pride and joy. She also leaves behind four brothers, Bob, Denny, Walt and Skip Howard; brother-in-law Steve Vaganek and many cherished friends. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday June 23, 2018 at Resurrection Catholic Church in Moneta, VA, immediately followed by a Mass of Christian Burial. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Stepping Stone Mission of Franklin County, your local hospice, or a charity of your choice.
