Linda Hodges Midkiff

Linda Hodges Scott Midkiff, age 71 of Ferrum, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. She was born December 10, 1947.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Mike Odell Midkiff; her first husband, Emmet Lawrence Scott; parents, Lavy Leonard and Bessie Young Hodges;  brothers, Lawrence Hodges,  William Hodges; sister,  Doris Prillaman and nephew Toby Gearhart.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved son, Ronald Scott (Barbara); grandson, Jackson Shields; step-granddaughters, Talia Kusmin and Richelle Smith; brother, Wayne Hodges; sisters, Ruby Nester, Carol Fain and Shirley Belcher (Tony); and her constant little fur baby companion, Pandy; along with numerous nieces and nephews as well dear friends Sarah Hambrick and Lovviner Scott.

Linda retired from The Franklin County School System, working at Callaway Elementary School. Since retirement she often substituted at both Henry and Ferrum Elementary Schools. The beautiful flowers at the school entrance were often her handiwork. She was an avid gardener and lovingly shared her green thumb with others.

Linda was an active member of Bethany United Methodist Church, quietly and humbly serving in the background. She was a loving Mom, Grandma and big sister to her family and a devoted and loving friend to so many. She worked tirelessly throughout her entire life, always doing for others. She loved with her whole heart, giving generously to those in need.

A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 11:00 at Bethany United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Peter Choi officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the church. Interment at Maple Grove United Methodist Church cemetery.
