In the early morning hours on Saturday, October 24, 2015 God called his faithful servant, Linwood Allen Flowers, 67 of Rocky Mount home. After six long years of fighting, cancer eventually overtook his body; however, it never overtook his spirit. Left to continue his legacy includes his wife of over 31 years, Helen (Dee Dee) Flowers; daughters, Diana Swaine (Zachary), Jessica Flowers; son, Marc Lawshe; brothers, Steve Flowers (Bonnie), David Flowers (Geneva); sister, Judy Grisso (Herb); numerous nieces, nephews and countless friends. Among those friends a special acknowledgement is to be made to his dearest friend, Lonnie Eggleston. He is now reunited with his beloved parents, Irvin Lewis and Mary Frances Flowers. He lived an extraordinary life, always putting the needs of others before his own. The past decade he devoted his life to doing the Lord’s work, whether it was ministering through song, spreading his testimony, uplifting other believers, or interceding through prayer for those hurting or needing comfort. Most times you would find him playing guitar or reading the bible and spending time with those he loved. While we feel the void of his missed presence, we are comforted in knowing Lin is no longer in pain. A special thank you to the Dialysis Center of Rocky Mount and Carilion Hospice of Franklin County for their great care given to Lin in his times of illness. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Lin’s memory to Stepping Stones Mission or Franklin County Soup Kitchen; a place he loved to volunteer his time and share his talent of cooking. A “going home” celebration has been planned to take place Sunday, November 1, 2015 at Carvins Cove Reservoir in Roanoke starting at 2:30 p.m. Bring a covered dish and plan on sharing your favorite memories of this great man, as well as feast and fellowship at one of his most cherished places in Roanoke. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
