Lois Jones Franklin Brown, 88, of Glade Hill, was born August 31, 1937, in Sydnorsville and passed away peacefully at Fork Mountain Adult Home, Rocky Mount, Virginia on Thursday, February 12, 2026. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Alma Cannaday Jones, first husband, Carlton Dickerson Franklin, second husband, Harold Brown, 2 nephews and brother Wayne Jones. Surviving is her only son, Ricky Franklin (Tina), 2 grandchildren, Brittany (Travis) and Brandon Franklin, sister, Ellen Jessee (Joe), brother, Bud Jones (Maneika), half-brother Anthony (Buck) Hughes (Cynthia), and many nieces and a nephew. She was a very loving mother and grandmother and thoroughly enjoyed doing things with her grandchildren as well as travelling. She spent two years studying at Radford and later attended Ferrum College to obtain her degree. She worked for the Department of Social Services and was eventually promoted to Director of Welfare. She retired in March of 1997. She was a devoted member of Glade Hill Baptist Church and an avid member of the Woodmen of the World, DAR, UDC, and the Red Hat Ladies. She also worked closely with the Historical Society.

A service will be held at Glade Hill Baptist Church at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2026, with Pastor David Long and Pastor Kevin Howerton officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Following the service, the church will provide a meal for all who would like to attend. Her family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Glade Hill Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank the staff at Fork Mountain Adult Home for all of the love and care that they gave.
