Lolene Hodges Corron, age 84 of Moneta died Friday, July 31, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgie and Cynthia Hodges; brothers and sister, Evelyn Hubbard, Elwood Hodges, Edger Hodges and Calvin Hodges; several nieces and nephews. Surviving are her husband, D. Ray Corron; son and daughter-in-law, David Alan Corron (Leslie); grandchildren, Hanna and Haley Corron; sister-in-law, Nadine Hodges; many nieces and nephews. Lolene retired after 34 years of service with Ferrum College serving in many capacities including being instrumental with the VITA Program. She also taught at Fieldale High School and later with Franklin County High School from 1959-1962. Lolene also worked for Nathan Hutcherson Law Firm in Rocky Mount. She also assisted with forming the Rocky Mount Retail Merchants Association. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Monday with Rev. Herb Hobbs officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Lolene Corron Scholarship Fund, c/o Ferrum College. Her family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
