Lona Mills Young Pagans, age 95 of Rocky Mount went to be with her Lord on Thursday, January 27, 2011. She was born March 14, 1915 in Franklin County, the daughter of the late Flem and Sally Mills. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond Young; her second husband, Herbert Pagans; and her infant child, Eugene Russell Young. Also preceding her in death were her son, Grady Pagans; brothers, Harry Mills, Russell Mills, Reggie Mills, Roy Mills; sisters, Gladys Meeks and Gracie Mills; granddaughters, Melissa Pagans, Alice Pagans and Cindy Pagans. Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughters, Cindy (Keith) Cook and Joyce Shively; her sons, Larry (Kim) Hancock, Wayne (Janet) Pagans, Will (Melanie) Pagans and a daughter-in-law, Pat Pagans. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Jennifer (Johnny) Spicer, Steven (Kira) Bowers of Alaska, Dustin Cook, Jennifer (Paul) Cook, Jonie (Brian) Arrington, Bradley Shively, Kristi Shively, Jessica (Chris) Shelton, Jacob Hancock, Karen (John) Guffey, Stacey Browe, Timmy Pagans, Michael Pagans, Clint (Jody) Pagans, Brian (Tristina) Pagans, Mandy Pagans, Lori Campbell; 32 great-grandchildren; and sister, Sally Craten Arrington; and beloved cat, Mary Ann. Lona was a very special lady to many people. No one left her home without enjoying a home cooked meal and feeling loved. Her generous spirit and need to care for all around her endeared her to everyone who knew her. A celebration of her life will be held from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Wilburn Meeks and Rev. Kirby Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Furnace Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
