Lonnie Greer Holland, age 95 of Rocky Mount was born September 17, 1928 one of 15 children born to Harry Thomas Greer and Oveeda Frances Hodges and went to her eternal home Monday, July 15, 2024.

Mom was always a very active person interested in learning and traveling. She was an avid reader and especially loved reading her Bible and western novels. She earned her GED at age 62, was a member of the Franklin Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, a past member of Hodgesville Pentecostal Holiness Church and Redeeming Life Holiness Church serving as a teacher, youth director, janitor, deacon, cook, sang in the choir and was a champion fundraiser. She was a faithful member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church. She was very active in the Lord’s Acre Sale. Mom was chosen as Franklin County Retail Merchants Association Mother of the Year in 1999.

Surviving are two sisters, Jenny Hodges and Carolyn Lyman; her children, Mark C. (Darlene) Hudson, Deborah H. (Bill) Corn, Phillip Lee (Ann) Bruce of Rocky Mount, Virginia and Kenneth Wayne (Karen) Bruce of Mendota, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Bonnie (Wesley) Hudson of Rocky Mount, Virginia; and son-in-law, Jerry F. (Linda) Little of Boones Mill, Virginia; grandchildren, Susan (Darin) Bussey, Jeffery Mullins, Matthew (Wesley Ann) Little, Jeff (Deborah) Little, Shannon (Jeff) Ellis, Anthony (Sherry) Hudson, Michele (Rodney Pruitt) Young, Cassandra Corn, Alana Beth (Calvin) Young, Kara (Charlie Keffer) Bernard, Kaitlyn (Sam) Monn, Adam (Tiff) Bruce, and Samuel (Catherine) Bruce; great-grandchildren, Brandon (Kat), Justin, Ryan, Michael and Daniel Neice of Arizona, Kelsi (Cameron) Meadors, Dean (Shelby) Bussey, Brittany and Colton Little, Hayden, Keaton and Ryan Ellis, Brock and Brice Hudson, Makenzie and Edan Young, Connor Anderson and Luke Corn, Kolton and Karsyn Keffer, Theodore Bruce, Evelyn, Lily and Rosie Bruce; step-children, Ellis (Diane) Holland, Tommy Lee (Pam) Holland, Joyce (Red) Perdue; and step-grandchildren, Samatha Holland, David Perdue, Melanie and Chris Poindexter.

She was predeceased by six brothers and six sisters; children, Susan Denise Bruce, Paul Wesley Hudson and Linda Hudson Little; grandchild, Leslie Gail Hudson Neice; husbands, Paul Coolidge Hudson, John Board Bruce and Boyd Holland; step-daughter, Linda (Fred) Poindexter; and special friend from England, Arthur Broadbridge.

Special thanks for their loving care to Susie Rose who was like an adopted daughter and the staff at Rocky Mount Health and Rehab. Mom always said “they take good care of me”. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Rocky Mount Baptist Church, 85 Church Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia or Redemming Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, 19295 Virgil H. Goode Hwy, Rocky Mount, Virginia.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Chapel with Pastor Dave Smith and Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. Interment will follow in Furnace Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
