Lorine S. Custer, age 77 of Callaway died Saturday, August 20, 2011. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Her pride and joy was her family and quilting. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Custer; her infant son; parents, Abb and Ruby Shockley; twin sister, Louvenia Jones; and brother, Raymond Shockley. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Jerry and Tricia Custer, Larry and Toni Custer, Willie and Susan Custer, Roger Custer, Katie Cannaday, Teresa and Joe Bynum; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sisters; brothers; nieces and nephews; also special friends, Edna Bowles, Pat and Mitch Webb, Randy and Brenda Carter, Pam McPherson, Arthur and Gail Gibson. The family would also like to say a special thank you to Aunt Joyce Sigmon who provided such great care, joy and comfort to mom. Also a special thanks to Gentle Shepard Hospice for your great care and ministry to mom. Graveside services will be conducted from the Custer Family Cemetery 11 a.m. Tuesday with Pastor Ray Bayse and Pastor Jeff Wray officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Bethany Church of the Brethren Building Fund, 2005 Bethany Road, Boones Mill, VA 24065 or Callaway Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 1, Callaway, Virginia 24067. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount and other times at the homeplace.
