Lottie Gauldin Walker, age 72 of Penhook died Monday, March 31, 2008 at her home after a courageous battle against cancer. Lottie was born May 27, 1935 in Callands and was the daughter of the late William Oliver and Lula Oakes Gauldin. She graduated from Callands High School and Danville Technical Institute. She was preceded in death by two children, William Sterling Walker and Beth Carmen Walker; and several brothers and sisters. Surviving are her loving husband of 54 years, John Landis Walker; her son and daughter-in-law, John Landis (Johnny), Jr. and Cindy Walker; her daughter and son-in-law, Brondwyn W. and D. Greg Sheffield; one precious grandchild Sydney Beth Sheffield; numerous nieces and nephews. Lottie also leaves behind many close friends that touched her life in so many ways, including a strong supportive church family at Boones Chapel Church of the Brethren and all the ladies at Hollywood Beauty Salon. She loved to garden, travel and help others in need. The family would like to thank all those who gave to them in this time of need. Your prayers, gifts, words, many acts of kindness, food and caregiving are deeply appreciated. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 with Pastor Mike Gallimore and Rev. J. D. Harmon officiating. Interment will follow in the Walker Family Cemetery. A special thanks to the staffs at Danville Hematology, Danville Internal Medicine, Danville Regional Medical Center and Carilion Hospice of Franklin County. Lottie loved flowers, however the family asks that donations be made to one of the following: Boones Chapel Church of the Brethren Building Fund, c/o Jeremy Adkins 16405 Snow Creek Road, Penhook, VA 24137 or American Cancer Society P.O. Box 3907, Martinsville, VA 24115. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
