Louise Thompson of Rocky Mount passed away after a short battle with cancer. Louise taught for 35 years in Roanoke City Public Schools. She was preceded in death by her parents Oliver and Ada Thompson; sister, Eloise Bowman; brothers, Oliver Thompson, Jr. and Winfred Thompson (Betty Jean). Surviving are a special nephew and care giver, J.K. Bowman, Jr. (Doris); nephews, John Bowman (Sherry), Chris Thompson (Carrie); nieces, Nancy Bowman, Rita Donahue (Ron), Katrina Vaden (David); brother-in-law, Kenneth Bowman; cousin, H.S. (Mickey) Stokes, Jr. (Mary Jane); several great - nephews and great -nieces. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Antioch Church of the Brethren Cemetery with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Miss Thompson desired to express her appreciation to Carilion Hospice, especially nurse Sherri McPeak, Chaplain Rick Poland, and her wonderful Doctor, Sarah Stubbs. She also wanted to thank her wonderful neighbors who have helped her over the years, especially Bryan Webb and Mike Brubaker. In lieu of flowers please consider Antioch Community Park at Dugwell where people of all ages can enjoy sporting activities, c/o Chris Myers, Treasurer, 14 Hickman Road, Rocky Mount, VA 24151 Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
