Lucas Jonathan Sechrist

Lucas Jonathan Sechrist “Luke” age 15 of Ferrum, Va. passed away Tuesday January 26, 2010, following his triumphant fight with cancer. Luke was a sophomore at Franklin County High School, where he was a member of the science club. He had a passion for the environment and loved animals. He was a member of Rocky Mount Christian Church. Luke was preceded in death by his grandfather Robert Townsend. Surviving are his parents Mike and Leslie Sechrist; sister Kristin; brother Jeremy; grandparents Raymond and Betty Sechrist, Gail Townsend; several aunts, uncles, cousins and one niece; also his miniature daschund Ramon. The family suggests memorials be made to Ronald McDonald House 2224 South Jefferson St. Roanoke, Va. 24014 or www.caringbridge.org or www.stjude.org . Memorial services have been rescheduled to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2010 at Rocky Mount Christian Church with Rev. Jody Johnson officiating. His family will receive friends 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral and Cremation Service 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
