Lucy Jones Atkins

Lucy Jones Atkins, 90, of Oak Level, went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 5, 2016. Lucy was born February 17, 1926 in Endicott, VA to the late Pete and Miranda Jones. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Oscar and Casey Jones, two sisters, Lora Atkins and Geneva Shively, a son-in-law, Donald Riddle Sr., a great grandson, Travis Toler, and several sisters and brothers-in-law. She is survived by two daughters, Jolene Riddle, and Sandra Martin and husband Karl, one granddaughter, Kim Bruggemann and husband Willis, two grandsons, Michael Toler and wife Lori, and Bryan Young and wife Tina, four great- grandchildren, and a brother, Woody Jones and wife Madeline. Lucy retired from E.I. DuPont in Martinsville, VA after 30 years of service. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lucy was a long time member of Oak Level Baptist Church where she loved her church family. Special thanks to Carilion Hospice Services of Franklin County for the special care they gave. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Roger Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
