Luther Virgil Fralin, age 89 of Glade Hill was called to his heavenly home Sunday, May 30, 2010 to spend eternity with his loving Lord and Savior. He was a veteran of World War II. Virgil loved nature, sitting on his porch watching the birds and squirrels, working in the garden, and in younger years, raising tobacco was a great passion of his. Even though he battled a severe hearing loss most of his life due to a military injury, he could enlighten you with tales from the good ole days and keep you laughing. He was quite the cut up to those who knew him well. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Fralin Wray; parents, Leonard and Mae Fralin; four sisters, Loleen Fralin, Ethel Perdue, Estelle Harrison, and Lucille Perdue; brothers, Morton, Junior, Cecil and Douglas Fralin. Left to cherish his memory is a special niece and “daughter by heart”, Pamela H. Perdue of Rocky Mount; a great-niece and “granddaughter by heart”, Jade Perdue Puli of Baltimore, Maryland. Other survivors include two grandsons, Keith Wray and wife Robyn of Rocky Mount, Darren Wray and wife Edma of Brazil; three great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Shirley and Irene Fralin; one brother-in-law, Charles Perdue; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the Salem Veterans Hospital Staff for all their love and support during his illness. May God bless each of you for your kindness and care. Graveside services will be conducted from the Fralin Family Cemetery (off Brooks Mill Road) 2 p.m. Tuesday with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Arrangements by Flora Funeral & Cremation Service, Rocky Mount.
