Lynwood Earl Caldwell, Sr., age 79 of Boones Mill went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, May 1, 2008.
He was a faithful member of Boones Mill Baptist Church and retired from Kraft Dairy Group with 23 years of service. He was also a postal worker and drove a van for Franklin County Developmental Center. He was a veteran of the United States Marines.
Lynwood was a kind loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He will be truly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles E., Sr. and Daisy Pearl Eastwood Caldwell; brother, Norman Caldwell; sisters, Evelyn C. Bowles and Beverly C. Derrick; and grandson Trevor S. Via.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Goldie Angell Caldwell; son Lyn E. Caldwell III and wife Kim, Wirtz; daughters, Donna Caldwell of the home, Dianna C. Via and husband Rick, Moneta, Deborah Caldwell, Roanoke; grandchildren, Megan C. Via and husband Brady, Phillip M. Via, Jordan T. Caldwell, Andrew C. Caldwell; and one God given grandson, G. W. Frith; one brother, C.E. Caldwell, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Doris Caldwell and Annie Mae Boitnott and husband James. Lots of special nieces, nephews and cousins.
Special thanks to his church family, physicians and staff of 8W at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be conducted from Boones Mill Baptist Church 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008 with Rev. James H. Steele and Rev. Patrick Collins officiating.
Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Boones Mill Baptist Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
