Mabel "Irene" Bowles Pierce

Mabel “Irene” Bowles Pierce, age 88 of Boones Mill passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023. She was born November 26, 1934 to the late Odie and Mildred Gibson Bowles. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, James “Jim” Pierce; siblings, Lloyd Bowles (Margaret), Robert “Red” Bowles (Betty), Dorothy Stump (Willard), Sarah Stump (Elbert), Ruby Wilder (Billy). She is survived by her children, Patricia Adkins (Bucky), Dwayne Casaday (Brenda), Jimmy Pierce (C.J.), Jackie Pierce; grandchildren, Stacie Hicks, Gina Pickard (Stan), Angie Casaday, Timmy Thompson (Dreama), Christie Wright (Duayne), Zachery Pierce (Anna); brother, William Bowles (Janet); along with 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Mabel worked at Kenrose as a telephone operator, Charlaine, Pannell and Pluma sewing factories as a seamstress. She also volunteered following her retirement at Heavenly Manna Food Bank for more than 10 years. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023 with Pastor Bryan Ratliff officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. The family requests in lieu of food and flowers, please make a donation to your local church or food bank. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
