Mabel Cora Sherr

Mabel Rathbun Lipka Sherr, age 93 of Rocky Mount, Va. died peacefully on Thursday, May 23, 2013. She was born July 22, 1919 in Hinsdale, NY to Albert and Ruby Rathbun. Preceding her in death were her first husband, Walter Lipka, Sr.; second husband, Leonard Sherr; sister, Edith O’Hara; son, Walter Lipka II; great-grandsons, Wesley Osgood and Justin Gugliemino; great-great-granddaughter, McKenna Bond. Surviving are her children, Judy (Robert) Osgood, Gary (Amy) Sherr, Dale (Naomi) Sherr all of Rocky Mount and David Sherr of Farmersville, NY. Also left to cherish her memory are 21 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandson. Mrs. Sherr was a member of the local Rocky Mount Congregation of Jehovah’s Witness being baptized in Westfield, NY in 1954. The family wishes to thank Betty Hubbard, her caregiver during the past year for the special love and care she provided as well as the many others who helped during her final days. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service. Graveside services will be conducted from Franklin Clearview Cemetery 2 p.m. Saturday. Memorial service conducted by Brother Roger Carter will be held 4 p.m. Sunday at the Rocky Mount Congregation of Jehovah Witness. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
