Macie Smith

Macie Spencer Smith, age 82 of Rocky Mount, passed away at home on Saturday, February 6, 2021. She was born in Martinsville on April 19, 1938 to the late Charlie Arther Spencer and Gay Delma Handy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Denny Smith; brother, Milton Spencer; and sister, Mildred Lawson. She is survived by her husband, Joel Alvin “Goat” Smith; son, Chad Smith (Tammy); daughter, Torri Lambert (Kenneth); four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth (Billy) Mize. Macie graduated from Bassett High in 1957. She spent her life enjoying her family and friends. She enjoyed playing bingo, loved going on cruises, traveling with coworkers, yard sales, auctions, live entertainment, having dinners with her friends, and always was happy having her grandkids to spend time together. She was so loved and will be deeply missed. Services will be announced for Macie and Denny at a later date. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
