Mack Clellon Martin, 88, of Christiansburg, VA died Thursday, June 23, 2016, following a brief illness. He was originally from Endicott, Franklin County, Virginia, and was preceded death by his parents, Ervin and Blanch Martin; brother, Frank Martin; sister, Shelby Jean Vest, and her husband, Freddie Vest; and his grandson, Lee Yearout.
Surviving are his sister, Shirley Ann Rutherford, six children, Mack Lynn, and fiancée Renita Meredith, Sue Yearout, and husband Gary, Linda Morton, and husband Barry, April Gregory, and husband Jim, Todd Martin, and wife Sarah, and Nickie Martin; grandchildren Beth Justice, Bruce McKinney, Brandi Stewart, Lauren Hall-Gregory, Savannah Martin, Kaitlyn Dotey, Kristy Smith, Chris Meredith, and Sierra Meredith; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. His greatest joy was his family. He had a love of NASCAR and, in is youth, was a driver on local circuits. He enjoyed gardening, canning food, and sharing his harvest with family, as well as old and new friends alike. He did not know a stranger. He did not like tardiness, was not blessed with patience, never overstayed his welcome, and was a natural storyteller. The family would like to thank Bob Smith and Bob Evans for their kindness and friendship to Mack over the many years, as well as the staff and residents at Heritage Hall in Blacksburg, his last residence. Mack has requested no flowers and the family asks that you honor his request. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 27, 2016, at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount, VA. Interment will be in a private ceremony.
