Mamie Hunt Anderson, age 85 of Rocky Mount, passed away Saturday March 8, 2008 at Franklin Health Care Center. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years Jesse Booker Anderson, Sr.; daughter Frances D. Bigney; and a special uncle and aunt Jim and Lillie Robertson. Mrs. Anderson was a member of Doe Run Christian Church. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, nannie, and friend. Mamie enjoyed embroidering, word puzzles, and she loved her family. Surviving are sons J.B. (Jean) Anderson, Jr., Carl (Carol) Anderson; daughters and caretakers Gail (Robert) Hutcherson, Lisa (Steve) Hodges; grandchildren Rhonda McNulty (John), Chuck Deyerle, Pam Seader (Mike), Tina Hartman (Benji), Renee Muscrat (Norman), Jess Anderson (Kellie), Crystal Conner (Eric), John McNeil and Stephanie King, Travis Hutcherson, Shelly Tuck (Jamie), Randy Whorley, Jr. (Angie), Adam Whorley, Heather Whorley, Nicholas Hodges; twenty-five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother Walter Hunt (Alma); sister Virginia Alberght; brothers-in-law Brady (Buna) Anderson, Floyd (Sandy) Anderson; sisters-in-law Lillian (Bob) Parcell, Mildred Anderson; special friend Eula Mae Brown; so many friends at nursing home including room mate , Mary Deshazo. Her family would especially like to thank Franklin Health Care (her second family) including the nurses, aides, housekeeping, rehab (Dwayne and Toby), all of her friends and congregation at Doe Run Christian Church, and Rev. Mark Deane and family for all of the care and visits…. “We love you all.” Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 3907, Martinsville, VA 24115. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Monday with Rev. Mark Deane and Dr. J. Cecil Riley officiating. Interment will follow in the Anderson Family Cemetery. Her family will be receiving friends from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Flora Funeral Chapel and at other times at the home of Robert and Gail Hutcherson.
