Mamie Elizabeth Wimmer Taylor

Mamie Elizabeth Wimmer Taylor, age 90 of Rocky Mount went to be with the Lord on angel wings on Thursday, September 3, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Mildred Wimmer of Callaway; seven brothers; five sisters; and grandson, Clyde Carroll, Jr. Surviving are her children, Stephen (Mary) Taylor, Janet Fitzgerald, Mary Sigmon and Doris Carroll; grandchildren, Denise Carroll, Samuel Fitzgerald III, Brian (Amanda) Fitzgerald, Stevie Taylor, Jr., Timmy (Sharon) Taylor, Renee (Mike) Burton, Ricky (Cynthia) Sigmon, Meredith (Mike) Peterson, Jeffery (Kelly) Taylor, Joseph (Jessica) Taylor; 17 great-grandchildren; special friends, nieces and nephews too numerous to mention. She was a member of Rocky Mount Church of God and employed at Bristol Manufacturing until her retirement. Special thanks to her caregivers Rita Slayton (niece) and Tunya Johnston (family friend). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rocky Mount Church of God or Carilion Hospice of Franklin County. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Rocky Mount Church of God with Rev. Jackie Poe and Rev. Robert Meredith officiating. Interment will follow in Pigg River Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
