Maora Smith Brown, age 86 of Rocky Mount went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, December 20, 2007.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart A. Brown; her parents, John and Bertha Smith; two brothers, Roy Smith and Ballard Smith; and three sisters, Ola Board, Ruth Cundiff and Edna Houston; special brother-in-law, Stafford Houston.
She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and William Call, Richmond, Debbie and Glen Montgomery, Roanoke, Donna and John Vaught, Roanoke; three granddaughters and their spouses, Stephanie and Charles F. Brown III, Glen Allen, Kim and Justin Gillespie, Kennesaw, Georgia, Christina S. Couch, Chicago, Illinois; three great-grandchildren, Chad Brown, Stuart Brown and Julia R. Brown, Glen Allen.
The family expresses their deep appreciation to Mrs. Brown’s caregiver, Linda Jones.
She was a long time member of the Rocky Mount Christian Church, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her family first.
Funeral services will be conducted from Rocky Mount Christian Church 2:30 p.m. Sunday, December 23, 2007 with Rev. Jody Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Rocky Mount Christian Church, 120 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, VA 24151 or the Lupus Foundation, Roanoke Chapter.
The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. until service time.
