Marcie Hall Altice, age 53 of Rocky Mount died Monday, January 11, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Helen Hall; brother, Larry Hall; and father-in-law, Fred Altice. Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Sammy Altice; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jr (Virginia) Hall, Ronnie (Janice) Hall; sisters and brothers-in-law, Vicky (Ronnie) Young, Deborah Hall, Tracie (Tim) Hale; aunt, Shirley Mabe; mother-in-law, Nancy Altice; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Hubbard, Freddie Altice, Jerry (June) Altice, Dana Altice, Tami (Joey) Woody; numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. She received degrees from Ferrum College, Roanoke College, Hollins University and University of Virginia. Marcie worked for Franklin County Public Schools for 31 years. She was also an Adjunct Professor at Ferrum College and Hollins University. Her community work involved starting the Panther Packs at Ferrum Elementary School, sitting on the Board of Directors for Tri-Area Community Health Center, and serving on the Board for United Way. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Thursday with Pastor Bob Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in the Jones Family Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the United Way of Franklin County, 270 South Main Street #204, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
