Margaret Anne Chitwood

Margaret Anne “Maggie” Chitwood, age 73 formerly of Rocky Mount died Tuesday, March 8, 2011. She was a 1958 graduate of Roanoke Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital from 1958 – 2000. Surviving are her two daughters, Rebecca Nunley and husband Charles, Monica Zills; one son, Phillip T. Chitwood and wife Sarah; seven grandsons, Brad Basham and wife Heather, Patrick Zills, David Doss, Chaz Doss, Marcus Lance, Nic Chitwood and Isaac Chitwood; three great-grandchildren, Hannah and Noah Basham, Lyric Doss. Special thanks Calvin and Jeanne Duncan and staff at Jeanne’s Eldercare for their loving care and also to Gentle Shepherd Hospice. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Saturday with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rocky Mount Baptist Church Building Fund, 85 West Church Street, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. Her family will receive friends 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
