Margaret Davis Parcell, age 83 of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, January 17, 2007.
She was an active member of Rocky Mount Christian Church serving in the Mother Oliver, Blanche Chitwood and CWF Circles. She held the longest membership at her church where she had taught Sunday school, served as Chairman of Education, formed the Young Adult Sunday school class, was the first female Elder, and was currently Elder Emeritus. In 1999 she chaired the committee for the 80th anniversary of Rocky Mount Christian Church and wrote the church history for the anniversary celebration. Mrs. Parcell attended Radford College, taught school at Glade Hill and Weekday Religious Education in Franklin County Public Schools.
She was the bookkeeper for Davis Heating and Air Conditioning for many years.
She deeply loved her church, husband, children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents William David and Nannie Davis; a son Reid Davis Parcell; brother W. D. Davis, Jr. (Billy) and wife Hazel.
Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years William M. Parcell; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Sharon Parcell, William, Jr. and Emma Parcell, Ben and Flo Parcell, Bob and Liz Parcell; grandchildren, Kay Parcell Hoff and Chris, Jill Parcell, Elizabeth Parcell Sharp and Nathan, William Ry Parcell, Carson Parcell, Lee Ellen Parcell, Annie Parcell, Margaret Parcell and Bradley Parcell; her great-grandchildren, Christiana Hoff, Delaney Hoff, Ethan Hoff, Emma Sharp, Pheobe Sharp; 9 nieces; 6 nephews; brother and sister-in-law, Jimmy and Donna Davis.
Graveside services will be conducted from the Parcell Family Cemetery at Sydnorsville 11:00 a.m. Friday. Memorial services will continue at Rocky Mount Christian Church 12:00 noon Friday with Rev. Jody Johnson officiating.
