Marie C. Hatchett

Marie C. Hatchett, age 86 of Penhook died Monday, August 7, 2017. She was born on July 10, 1931 a daughter of the late James and Mary Compton of Ridgeway. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert T. Hatchett; and two brothers, Lewis Compton and Howard Compton. Surviving are her children, Robert Michael Hatchett (Bonnie Sue), Jerry Allen Hatchett (Bonnie P.), Betty Jean Moorman (Ron), Kelly Lee Hatchett (Gwen), Glenn Ross Hatchett (Terri), Laurie Anne Young (Terry); 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother, Larry Compton (Julie); sisters, Linda Hodges (Bob), Carol Martin, Sheryl Epperly (Curtis), Doris Faye Overby (Charles); numerous nieces and nephews. Marie was a member of Forrest Hill Christian Church for 67 years where she was a choir member and Sunday School teacher. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a faithful wife of 64 years. Special thanks to Blue Ridge Rehab Center and Mountain Valley Hospice for the care given to our mother during her illness. Funeral services will be conducted at Forrest Hill Christian Church 2:00 p.m. Thursday with Wayne Keith, Minister and Lee Ashley, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 730 East Church Street, Suite 13 Martinsville, VA 24112 or Snow Creek Rescue Squad, 7049 Snow Creek Road, Penhook, VA 24137. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Forrest Hill Christian Church and other times at the home of Kelly Hatchett, 3649 Snow Creek Road, Martinsville, Va. 24112.
