Marjorie Belle Walker Belcher

Marjorie Belle Walker Belcher, age 92 of Penhook, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Sago, VA on April 16, 1927 to George William Walker and Eliza Martin (Martie) Washburn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by Herbert Wilson Belcher, her husband of 53 years; four brothers, Joseph Ward Walker, George Washburn Walker, William Burton Walker, and Davis Burwell Walker; four sisters, Polly Walker Smith, Laurie Walker Cobbs, Oleta Walker Smith, and Winifred Walker Craig Mason; and son-in-law, Richard Wilson Lawrence. Marjorie graduated from Callands High School. She was a member of the Matthews Memorial Presbyterian Church in Callands, VA. She was a devoted wife, mother, caregiver, and homemaker. She loved listening and dancing to bluegrass music. Marjorie worked side by side with Herbert on their farm to provide for the family. Nothing was more precious to her than her family. She is survived by two daughters, Dianne Belcher Lawrence, Faye Marie Belcher and partner Frank Scearce; three sons and daughters-in-law, Herbert Franklin “Frankie” and Patsy Belcher, Otis William and Jeanette Belcher, Donnie Ray and Susan Belcher; five grandchildren, Pamela and Buster Smith, Brian and Barbara Belcher, Wayne and Nicole Lawrence, Angela and J.C. Turner and Bradley Belcher; step-grandson, Rodney Brown; five great-grandchildren, Brian and Jason Smith, Abigail and Andrew Turner, and Preston Belcher; and one great-great-grandchild, Sidney Smith. The family would like to thank Home Health and Hospice and especially Karen Pagans for their loving care to Marjorie during her final days. Funeral Services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2019 with Rev. Cabell Cobbs officiating. Interment will follow in the Belcher Family Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount and other times at the home.
