Mark Anthony Smith

Mark Anthony Smith, age 52 of Rocky Mount passed away suddenly on Monday, January 26, 2026, leaving behind a deep and lasting sorrow for all who knew and loved him.

Born on June 19, 1973, in Rocky Mount, Virginia, Mark was a man known for his kind heart and friendly spirit. He worked for years alongside his best friend and brother, Bodie, as a skilled carpenter and took great pride in his work. To Mark, building things was more than a job-it was a reflection of his dedication, patience, and attention to detail.

Mark valued family above all else. He had a way of showing love through action- always willing to help, fix, or build whatever was needed. His presence always brought comfort and laughter to those around him.

He is survived by his daughter, Skye Reagan Rousey (Matt); sisters, Lisa Wells (Mickey), Teresa Pruitt (Joe) and Trenda Ruiz (Emilio); brothers, Bodie Smith (Ginger) and Kevin Smith (Jennifer). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews with which he shared special bonds. Mark is preceded in death by his parents, Judy Ann Smith (Divers) and Terry Iven Smith “Baby.”

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Flora Funeral Chapel, Rocky Mount, Virginia with Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. Interment will follow in the Smith Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations be made to Henry Fork Service Center.

Though Mark’s life was tragically cut short, his legacy lives on in the work of his hands and the love he gave so freely. He will always be remembered.
