Marshall Harding McMinnis, age 83 of Hardy, Va., passed away Monday, February 26, 2007.
He was retired from John W. Daniel Company of Danville and The Willard Construction Company. Mr. McMinnis was a veteran of WWII and an active member of the John W. Daniel Retirement Group. He was also a Deacon at Vandola Baptist Church in Danville, Va.
Mr. McMinnis was born on March 1, 1923 a son of the late Benny Ralph and Maggie Dalton McMinnis. He was also preceded in death by his two brothers, Frank McMinnis and Ernest McMinnis; and one sister, Mabel McMinnis Pickeral.
He is survived by his wife, Edith Robertson McMinnis; son, Marshall D. McMinnis; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra McMinnis Clingenpeel and husband Harry; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; brother, Lester T. McMinnis; and sisters, Ines McMinnis Hogan and Lucy McMinnis West.
Funeral services will be conducted from Halesford Baptist Church 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Melvin Harris and the Dr. Leroy Clack officiating.
Interment will follow with military honors in the Dillon-McGuire-Willard Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Tuesday with his family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
