Martha Mae Lucore Flora

Martha Mae Lucore Flora, age 89 of Franklin County, VA went home to the Lord on Monday, January 3, 2022. She was born on March 11, 1932 to the late Frank and Lola Lucore of Arriba CO. Martha is celebrated in her life hereafter by her treasured and loving husband of 69 years, Sylvus D. Flora; her children, Sharon Reece (Everett); deceased daughter, Linda Diane Flora, Jan Steil, Wayne Flora (Alisa), Carolyn Reynolds (Bill), and Kurtis Flora (Anne); grandchildren, Jacqueline Steil, Megan Flora (Nathan Downs), deceased grandson, Andrew Flora, Nathan Flora, Melissa Moses (Ben Cook), Matthew Foster (Jessica), Deanna Flora, Emily Hicks (Stephen), and Tyler Flora (Jessica); great-grandchildren, Marleigh Flora, Ellie Flora, Wyatt Hicks, Remington Hicks, Teegan Hicks, and Liam Foster; and her sisters, Dorothy Kipp and Elsie Holderread (Ken); and brother, Don Lucore (Nancy); and deceased brother, Dale Lucore (Darlene). As a devoted minister's wife, Martha was involved in church fellowship ministries, and studied nursing to become an RN, OCN and helped with many persons with cancer, working in several hospitals from here to Maryland. She loved cooking, participating in various church functions and women's fellowship, and enjoyed her service by quilting for many people at home, with the ladies at church, and for the annual World Hunger Auction. Martha was known for her quick wit and keeping us all on our toes. A celebration of Martha's life will be held at Germantown Brick Church of the Brethren, 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022, with Pastor Greg Broyles officiating and a special sharing by Pastor Bruce Huffman. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
