Mary Paige Brown Shoemaker

Mary Paige Brown Shoemaker, age 83, of Rocky Mount, passed away Monday, April 18, 2011. She loved her family, enjoyed homemaking, cooking and her flowers. She was a wonderful mother and mother-in-law. Mrs. Shoemaker had been a member of Doe Run Christian Church since 1967. She was the last of eleven children born to the late Hubert and Bertha Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband Frank E. Shoemaker; a grandson and a great- granddaughter. Surviving are her children, Alton Shoemaker (Ruth), Allen Shoemaker (Nancy), Nancy Robertson (Tommy), Judy Hodges (Daniel); eight grandchildren, Rita, Ricky, Melissa, Laura, Kelle, Allison, Lisa and Keri ; nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Frances Brown, Alise Fralin, Dottie Jean Stump, Dixie Brown, Dotsie Brown, Garnett Guthrie and Peggy Smithers; special “sis” Jane Hodges and her puppy “Baby”. Private Graveside Services will be conducted from Shoemaker-Robertson Family Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 6-8 pm Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
