Mary Housman Mitchell, age 79 of Union Hall, died Saturday, February 17, 2007 in the local hospital.
She was born on December 16, 1927 a daughter of the late Billy and Kate Housman. She was also preceded in death by her brothers and sisters; daughter-in-law, Marie Mitchell; son-in-law, William Marvin Sawyer; and stepfather, Hampton Perdue.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Silas Mitchell; son, Wayne Mitchell; daughter, Pat Sawyer all of Union Hall; grandchildren, Teresa Mitchell and companion Barry Green, Jonathan Wayne Sawyer; great-grandchild, Tina Marie Green; sisters, Lou Byrd of Hardy, Eliza Updike and husband Nelford of Hopewell; several nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted from Franklin Memorial Park 12 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Rick Poland officiating.
Flowers will be accepted or the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Glade Hill Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 82, Glade Hill, Va. 24092.
Her family will be receiving friends from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
