Mary Jane Woody Muse, age 101 of Richmond, formerly of Franklin County passed away peacefully Monday, June 1, 2026 surrounded by her family.
Mary was born on April 22, 1925 in Roanoke, VA. She grew up in Franklin County, where she was married to Cutie Nicholas Muse who preceded her in death. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Eva Jean, Alice Faye, and the late Carol Ann. Mary was also preceded in death her by sister, Josephine Hairston, and mother, Eva W. Jones.
Mary joined the Truevine Baptist Church at an early age. She was a dedicated and faithful member for as long as her health allowed. She served as a Deaconess, Sunday School teacher, and Church Secretary.
Mary was a devoted helpmate to her husband in managing the family farm, where both her hard work and steady presence were essential to its success. Mary enjoyed flower gardening, canning, and baking sweet potato pies.
After living in Franklin County for many decades, Mary spent her final years in Richmond VA.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Eva M. King, son-in-law, Cornelious H. King of Richmond, VA; daughter, Alice Faye Muse of Falls Church, VA; granddaughter, Carla Lynette King, and great grandson, Nathan Myles King of Chesterfield, VA, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2026. Interment will follow in Truevine Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
