Mary Hairfield Kent

Mary Hairfield Kent, age 93 of Glade Hill passed away peacefully Thursday, May 5, 2011. She was born October 18, 1917 in Pittsylvania County a daughter of the late Joseph and Elberta Hairfield. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, socializing with friends, bridge and the Washington Redskins. She was a member of the Auxiliary of Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Kent was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Kent; three brothers and three sisters. Close family includes her daughter, Donna Dillon of Boones Mill; grandsons, Courtney Hutcherson (Amy), Darron Hutcherson (Lorrie Williams), Colin Hutcherson, Wesley Kent (Martha); great-grandchildren, Matthew, Kaitlyn, Zachary Hutcherson, Isabelle and Lee Kent; sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Bill Kelly of Pulaski; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Bobbi Hairfield of Olympia, Washington; special nephew, James Kent; many other nieces and nephews whom she adored. Graveside services will be conducted from Franklin Memorial Park 2 p.m. Saturday with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staffs of UVA Hospital, Berkshire Nursing Facility and Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Her family will receive friends from 12 noon to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
