Mary Lee Nichols, age 62 of Thaxton and formerly of Callaway, died Monday, May 25, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ethel Shorter.
Surviving are her children, Russell Biggs and wife Amanda of Thaxton, Elizabeth Saunders and husband Keith “Buba” of Roanoke; three grandchildren, Mary Jo Saunders and fiancé Chad Brugh, I, Zachary Saunders, Jordan Biggs; one great-grandchild, Chad Brugh, II; several special children that she was very fond of; very special niece, Tammy Brown and husband Ernest; also several other nieces and nephews; sisters, Nancy Murray and husband Tommy, Betty Nichols and husband Fletcher, Hilda Caldwell, Deborah Shorter; and brother, Earl Shorter.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Bud Nichols and Rev. Gary Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Yopp Family Cemetery.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 3907, Martinsville, Virginia 24115.
Her family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount.
