Mary Ellen Patterson

On the evening of Thursday, January 18, 2024, Mary Ellen Patterson, 77 of Rocky Mount, gained her heavenly wings after a courageous battle with dementia.

She was born to the late Otis and Delma Harrison on May 5, 1946 in Rocky Mount, Virginia. July 6, 1990 she was united in marriage to her best friend & soulmate Robert Early Patterson, Jr. Her sole place of employment was M&W Windows, where she worked for 26 years.

She was preceded in death by her father, Otis Harrison; mother, Delma Harrison; father-in-law, Robert Early Patterson, Sr; mother-in-law, Lillie Pearl Patterson; daughter, Tina Dillon; one brother, Ed Harrison; four sisters, Ann Harrison, Helen Lynch, Zelda Dudley, and Kawania Kay Seay; five sisters-in-law, Patricia Patterson, Rachel Patterson, Elizabeth Tyree, Audrey Patterson, and Doris Allen; three brothers-in-law, John Patterson, Ronald Hicks, and Patrick Helms.

She leaves to cherish her loving husband, Robert Early Patterson, Jr. of Rocky Mount, VA; one daughter and loving caregiver, Rhonda Kay (Todd) Crook of Glade Hill, VA; one brother, Eugene Harrison of Rocky Mount, VA; three brothers-in-law, Henry (Dinah) Patterson and Bobby Patterson of Rocky Mount, VA; and Leonard Allen of Roanoke, VA; four sisters-in-law, Mary Helms, Linda Hicks, Tracy Patterson, and Brenda (Danny) Gill all of Rocky Mount, VA; four special friends, Charlotte Austin, Charlotte Dent, Betty and Bonnie Sink; special music therapist, Cecelia Varnum; special sister-in-law, Bonnie Mitchell; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2024 with Mr. Eddie Seay officiating. Interment will follow in the Harrison Family Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
