Mary Hancock Reynolds

Mary Hancock Reynolds, age 93 of Rocky Mount and formerly of Annapolis, MD and Washington D.C. passed away Friday March 7, 2008. She was born in Stella, VA of Patrick County in 1914 and graduated from Ferrum Junior College. She was preceded in death by her parents Peter Fleming Hancock and Cora Foster Hancock; her son Forrest (Mike) P. Reynolds, Jr. in 2001 and her husband The Rev. Forrest P. Reynolds (a Methodist minister for 50 years) died in 2006. Her deceased brothers and sisters are Walter Hancock, Eliza Hancock Davis, Nellie Hancock, Alice Hancock Souther, Doris Hancock Mason, Serena Hancock Powell, Frank Mason (Mae) Hancock, and two special brothers Harold Hancock and Posey Hancock. She is survived by two sisters Viola Hancock Roberts of Washington D.C., and Opal Hancock Arduino of Rocky Mount and College Park, MD; one brother James Russell Hancock of Bourbonnais, IL; two granddaughters Jennifer Reynolds Taylor of Coppell, TX and Caroline Reynolds of Novia Scotia; also many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow in Antioch Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Her family will be receiving friends Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, Rocky Mount. Her family would especially like to thank the staff at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital.
