Mary Lou Robertson, age 89 of Roanoke passed away peacefully on Friday, October 10, 2025. As a loving mother, grandmother and respected real estate agent, she leaves a legacy of kindness, compassion, strength and integrity that will forever be cherished by her family and community.
Born in Rocky Mount, Virginia on December 17, 1935, Mary Lou was youngest of nine children. She built a distinguished career in real estate spanning 45 years and became known for her tireless work ethic and unwavering advocacy for her clients. Her passion for helping families to find their perfect home was a genuine calling.
Beyond her professional achievement, Mary Lou was a source of love and warmth to those who knew her best. She found joy in attending church, gardening, playing with her dog (Barney), and walking the neighborhood to chat with others. She was a devoted mother to her sons, Max and Charlie and loving grandmother to her grandson, Cam Robertson.
She is survived by her son, Max Robertson (Sandy Miller); and her cherished grandson, Cam Robertson. She is reunited in death with her loving family members; son, Charlie Robertson; parents, Cam and Daisy Martin; brothers, Buford, Hoover, and Cam Jr. Martin; and sisters, Clyde Thompson, Nola Fulcher, Lola Martin; Lena Scott and Willie Scott.
Her much-loved brother, Bruce Martin of Bristol is left to continue the legacy of the Martin family.
A funeral service honoring her life will be held at Franklin Heights Church 2 p.m. on Monday, October 13, 2025. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Max Robertson and family would like to convey their deep gratitude to the family, neighbors and caregivers that continued to provide love and support during her declining health. With heartfelt thank you to Shirley Blevins for her amazing love and care of Mary Lou and her family. Holly Sheridan for constant help and guidance, Judy Wheeler for her continued visits, flowers, love and support. We would like to express our appreciation to Glenda Thompson and Linda Handy for the extraordinary love and support throughout Mary Lou’s illness. Your presence, encouragement and care meant the world to Mary Lou and made this difficult journey more bearable. In addition, we appreciated the wonderful care from the members of the Good Samaritan Hospice team, which are a special group of caring members. Thank you so much everyone for your care and support during this time.
