Mary Elizabeth Muse Berger-Sheffield, age 90 of Martinsville passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2016. She was born October 10, 1925 in Snow Creek, Virginia a daughter of the late Phil and Hattie (Woody) Muse. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Leonard H. Berger; second husband, Rev. Sam Sheffield; brothers, Robert, Coy, Lewis, and Ford Muse; sisters, Roberta Tolliver, Sallie Freeman, Belle Pinkard, and Louise Poindexter.
  
  
  Surviving are her daughters, Rosa Trent (James), Juanita Berger, Eunice Becker (John), Linda Allen, Shay Berger, Shirley Brown and June Stockton (Leroy); sons, James Berger (Gloria), Raymond Berger (Maxine) and Marshall Berger (Florence); sisters, Thelma Lee, Evelyn Edwards, Betty Tyree (Billy), Shirley Thomas, Joyce Childress (Herman); brothers, John Muse, Fletcher Muse and Eddie Muse; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
  
  
  Mary was a retired CNA for Green Thumb and Fred Bostick of Martinsville. She was a member of the Chestnut Knob Ruritan Club and the Red Cross. She graduated from Sago School in Franklin County and was a member of High Ridge Missionary Baptist Church on Carver Road in Martinsville. She served on the missionary board, member of the senior choir, and senior usher board. Prior to her membership with High Ridge she was a member of Truevine Missionary Baptist Church in Franklin County.
  
  
  Funeral services will be conducted at Truevine Missionary Baptist Church 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2016. Interment will be in Church Cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.
