Mary Webb Sledd

Mary Webb Sledd, age 86 of Rocky Mount died Sunday, August 28, 2011. She was the seventh child born to her parents, Katie Dowdy Webb and Wiley G. Webb. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Eslie W. Sledd Jr.; her parents; sister, Grace Webb; and infant sisters Helen and Frances; brothers, Luke, Paul, Fred, Henry, and Dan Webb; sisters-in-law, Vivinee, Frances, and Mary Ann Webb; brothers-in-law Joseph, Lloyd and Harry Sledd, Earl Scott, and Albert Ashworth. Surviving are her sons, Michael and Charles Sledd; daughter-in-law, Judy Smith Sledd; special grandsons, Casey, Corey, and Adam Sledd; sisters-in-law, Helen Webb, Earnestine Webb, Jeanette Sledd, Eva Ashworth, Cecile Bussey, Joyce Sledd, Helen Sledd, Ethel Scott, Serena Matthews, and Norma J. Cootes; brothers-in-law, Pete Sledd, and Fred Bussey; special friends, Stewart Werner and Sarah Hambrick; many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and friends. Mary was a lifelong member of Highland United Methodist Church since age 9. Mary requested a brief private graveside service and in lieu of flowers or food that you make a memorial gift to feed a hungry child.
