Mary Sivills Williams Bowman

Mary Sivills Williams Bowman, of Boones Mill went to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, August 18, 2010. She was born on December 10, 1924 in Gates County, NC to Thomas Bushel and Elizabeth Dryden Sivills. She was a graduate of Gates County High School and retired from S & H Green Stamps. She was a member of Bethlehem Church of the Brethren, Boones Mill. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Edward Morgan Williams; two brothers and three sisters. Surviving are her second husband, Joseph Harlan Bowman of the home; daughters, Jan Jones (Jesse) of Boones Mill, Sheila Smith of Smithfield, Va.; grandchildren, Dawn Sutton (Matthew) of Suffolk, Va., Adam McClenney of Chesapeake, Va., great-grandchildren, Quade Sutton and Camdyn Sutton, Suffolk, Va.; brother, David Sivills (Phyllis) of Mattawa, WA; numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving are Harlan’s children, Harlan Otho Bowman (Ginger) of Rocky Mount, Va; Leon Bowman (Patty) of Glade Hill, Va., Karen Hodges (Lance) of Boones Mill; his grandchildren, Joe Bowman (Anita) of San Antonio, TX, Carla Helton (Gary) of Boones Mill, Angie Easley (Trey) of Nokesville, Va.; five great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Chester Bowman (Eleanor) of Bridgewater, Va., Mitchell Bowman (Bobbi) of Fincastle, Va., Ray Bowman (Ruth) of North Manchester, IN; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Williams Early of Ahoskie, NC, Estelle Craig of Bassett, Va., Catherine Bowman of Nokomas, FL, Barbara (Joe) Hopkins of McLean, Va., Wanda (Tommy) Crickenberger of Salem, Va.; numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be conducted from Bethlehem Church of the Brethren 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Bill Hinton officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Mary S. Bowman Memorial Fund, c/o Bethlehem Church of the Brethren, 4250 Bethlehem Road, Boones Mill, Virginia 24065. Her family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Friday at the church.
