Matthew David Campbell, 27 of Glade Hill, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 6, 2018. Though his years on this earth were few, he filled them with love, laughter, and kindness. Matthew is survived by his mother, Judy Tosh Young; father, Kenneth Campbell (Kathy); grandparents, Harold and Fern Campbell, Jean Neville; sisters, Marla Walker (Dexter), Deborah White (Step), Theresa “Teri” Harrison (Mike), Kathleen Walton (John), Patricia Kitchen (Scott), Amy Gladden (Tommy), and Julie Rector; girlfriend, Danielle Moon; and several family members, friends, and loved ones. He had a special bond with his beloved “little sister,” Ainsley Walker, who looked up to Matthew and considered him her big brother. Matthew was born two months early in Riverside Hospital in Newport News. He weighed a little over three pounds and for seven months had a heart monitor (each beep sent his mom into a panic). Matthew loved working out, fishing, cheering on the Redskins, watching documentaries, and hanging out with his friends and family. He was greeted into heaven by his late special dad, Bill Young; grandfathers, George Tosh and Herman Neville; aunt, Sandra Coleman; and uncle, Jimmy Keatts. The family will receive friends at Flora Funeral Home in Rocky Mount on Saturday, February 10, from 6 pm to 8 pm. A funeral service at Flora will be held Sunday, February 11, 2018 at 2:00 pm followed by a graveside service at Arrington Cemetery at Crafts Church in Glade Hill. Matthew’s generous and thoughtful spirit will be remembered forever. “What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.” (Helen Keller) Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
