Maureen T. Nix

Maureen T. Nix, age 78 of Burnt Chimney and formerly of Smithtown, NY passed away Monday, August 27, 2012. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John (Jack) Nix, Jr.; son, John Nix III; and her parents, George and Violet Toy. She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Leslie) Nix of Stanwood, WA, Kerry Nix of St. James, NY, Bryan (Eleanor) Nix of East Patchogue, NY; grandsons, Jeffrey, Jack, and Cameron Nix; granddaughters, Emily and Keri Nix; brother, Donald (Bonnie) Toy of Dover, NH. Maureen graduated from Long Island School of Nursing and was a longtime Registered Nurse at Smithtown General Hospital. After their retirement in 1993, Maureen and Jack moved from New York to Virginia where they lived until their passing. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. Memorial services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 3 p.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make an honor gift to the ASPCA at www.aspca.org. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
