Maurice Daniel Laprade, Sr.

Maurice Daniel Laprade, Sr. age 92, of Rocky Mount passed away Saturday March 14, 2009 .He was born March 5, 1917 in Franklin County and lived in the Antioch Community, where he operated a dairy farm until he retired. He served on the Board of Trustees of Antioch Church of the Brethren and the Antioch Community Park. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Flora Laprade, his parents Joel Levi & Bessie Peters Laprade and his daughter Betty Jean L. Thompson, grandsons; Keith Daniel Laprade and Winfred Durward Thompson, Jr. great-grandson Jeffery Ray Purcell, sister; Myra Laprade Bowman, brother; Floyd Henry Laprade; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; James Roy Flora, George Wendell Flora and wife Frances, Allen Laprade and wife Gladys. He is survived by his daughter, Patricia L. Oakes and husband M. Rabun, of Martinsville, son; Maurice Daniel Laprade, Jr. and wife Jane F. of Rocky Mount, son-in-law; Winfred Thompson, of Rocky Mount, five grandchildren; Rita T. (Ron) Donahue, Teresa O. (Don) Purcell, Darell (Robin T.) Oakes, Beverly L. (Alex) Milenbachs, and Cindy L. (Ben) Lattimer, Four great-grandchildren; Jonathan Oakes, Brenna Purcell, Kimberly and Sarah Donahue; sister & brother-in-law, Anna L. and Roy Stanley; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hollace Bowman; Darlene Laprade, Evelyn Flora, and many special nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to thank Trinity Mission Staff for all their care. Funeral services will be conducted from Antioch Church of the Brethren, 11:00 a.m. Tuesday Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Antioch Community Park.
