Mcarthur Mcghee

On Saturday morning, September 27, 2025, at home with his family by his side, McArthur "Mack" McGhee, was called home to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mack was born to the late Gracie Pearl McGhee and George Washington McGhee on July 7, 1946 in Rocky Mount, Virginia. He was devoted to his family and loved them unconditionally. Mack attended Franklin County Public Schools and, for 41 years, was employed by Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital. He gave his life to God at an early age and joined Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Rocky Mount where he served as a member of the Male Chorus. Mack enjoyed singing and two of his favorite songs were Precious Lord and Sending Up My Timber. Some of his cherished pastimes were playing the guitar, planting his garden and going fishing with his fishing partners, Buddy Helm and Charlie Brumfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Marie Brown and Allena Williams; two brothers, Wallace McGhee and Curtis McGhee; and one daughter, Michelle McGhee Walker.

Those left to cherish his precious memories are his wife, Mary McGhee; one daughter, Margaret Lucinda McGhee; one son, McArthur Davy McGhee; one sister, Margaret Loretta (William) Board; one brother, Clarence (Beulah) McGhee; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-great grandchildren; and a host of other loved ones and friends.

Mack's passing is a loss that will take time for us to accept, but we will rejoice in the fact that he is home with family and we will all see him again some day. ~ The Family

Funeral services will be held at Antioch Baptist Church, 12:00 Noon Thursday, October 2, 2025. Interment will follow in the Patterson Family Cemetery (Georgetown Road). His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
