Melva Catherine Dunahoo King of Boones Mill left this world for her new home on Friday, October 3, 2014 at the age of 95. She was born on January 12, 1919, the oldest child of Neely Jacob and Ollie Abshire Dunahoo. She was the oldest living member of Boones Mill Church of the Brethren. She made many friends during the time she worked for Cooper Wood Products and Martin Processing. Melva was always active. She loved to dance, work crossword puzzles, rake leaves and work in her flowers. She was able to mow her yard until she was 90. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Harold and Tounes Dunahoo; son-in-law, Donnie Hartman; brother-in-law, Wallace Kinsey; husbands, Oscar Sexton and Howard King. Loved ones left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Rachel Sexton Hartman; grandsons, Jimmy (Pam) Hartman, Jeffrey Hartman, Darren Hartman; granddaughter, Amy (Darrell) Morrow; the light of her life, great grandson, Zachary Morrow; special sister, Mildred Kinsey; sisters-in law, Goldie and Jean Dunahoo; special aunt, Gelene Amos; and roommate, Ms. Willie Dollock. Heartfelt thanks to Larry and Patty Toler and the staff at Red Oak Manor, and the staff at Franklin Health & Rehab for the kindness and love shown our mother and grandmother during her battle with Dementia. A Graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boones Mill with Rev. Leonard Martin officiating.
