Melvin William Bowles, age 67 of Boones Mill, went to be with his Lord this day, Thursday, May 22, 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Irvin and Mable R. Bowles; one daughter, Linda M. Bowles; one sister, Iris Gilbert.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 32 years, Shirley B. Bowles; one son, Melvin (M.G.) and wife, Tammy Bowles; one daughter, Karen Barbour and her special friend, Marie Nixon; two grandchildren, Brandon Bowles and Bridgette (Jonathan) Fulcher; two great-grandchildren; one brother, George Everett Bowles and his wife, Reita Bowles; four sisters, Marie Hundley, Janie Adkins, Nancy Adkins and her husband, Clyde Adkins, Louise White; several nieces and nephews. Also left to cherish his memory is his mother-in-law, L. Agnes Surface.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Mike Lawhorn officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
His family will be receiving friends from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount 24151.
