Melvin H. Dean

Melvin Homer Dean (Winky), 58 of Penhook passed away Sunday, September, 1, 2019 at his home. He was born October 26, 1960 a son of James M. and the late Marjorie Wingfield Dean. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and the outdoors. Winky loved his wife Bonnie and his family-four legged son Rocky. He had a passion for widdling and making walking sticks for family and friends. Winky loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and was known for his banjo playing and his love of bluegrass music. He proudly served his country as a United States Army Veteran. Surviving to cherish his memory his wife, Bonnie “Booba” Dean; daughter and son-in-law, Kayla and Shawn Scott; grandson, Logan Beard; brother, James Boaz; father and step-mother, James and Evelyn Dean. Memorial services will be at Boones Chapel Church of the Brethren, 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2019 with Pastor Mike Gallimore officiating. Private interment will be in the Wingfield Family Cemetery. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
