Melvin George Newby, age 80 of Wirtz passed away Tuesday November 11, 2014. Surviving are his sons, Dale C. Newby and Melvin Newby; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Franklin Memorial Park with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. His family will receive friends 5-7 pm Friday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
