Melvin Lee Owen

Melvin Lee Owen, 89, of Callaway, Virginia, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018. He was born July 17, 1928 in Bedford County, Virginia. He lived most of his life in Callaway, with the last 3 years in the care of Richfield Recovery and Care Center in Salem. Melvin was a member of Fairmont Baptist Church. Melvin is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Gertrude (Trudy) Green Owen and their four children. Bobby (Rhonda) of Christiansburg; Randy (Delana) of Nashville, Tennessee and their children Olivia and Silas; Richard (Rebecca) of Reston, Virginia and their son Carson; and Regina Owen Valerio (Paul) of Congers, New York. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Monday, January 15 at Flora Funeral Service in Rocky Mount. Visitation with the family will begin at 1 PM before the service. Burial will follow at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boones Mill. Donations are suggested to Meals on Wheels of Roanoke Valley League of Older Americans.
