Melvin Marvin Stugelmeyer, age 78 of Rocky Mount passed away peacefully with his wife Linda and son Mark by his side on Friday, March 29, 2013. He was born in McLaughlin, South Dakota on March 23, 1935. Mel served in the United States Army 568th QM Company Sub. Sup. in Germany. He was a man on many talents to include being a farmer, building many beautiful structures in the construction business and owned his own business for several years. He loved to hunt and fish especially in the great Northwest part of America. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmanuel and Katherine Stugelmeyer; brothers, Walter and Sonny Stugelmeyer; and sisters, Leona Deloy and Lorraine Zimmerman. Surviving are his wife of 40 ½ years, Linda Stugelmeyer; brother, Earl Stugelmeyer; sister, Laverna Klein; son, Brian Blosmo and daughter D’Lynn VanValkenburgh; daughter, Dee Myers and son-in-law, Jimmy Myers; son, Mark Stugelmeyer and daughter-in-law, Becky Stugelmeyer; four grandchildren, Linda Nissen, Traci Owens, Katherine Stugelmeyer and Anna Stugelmeyer; one great-grandchild, Samantha Marie Nissen; and great-granddaughter Emily Marie Nissen expected to bless us with her presence in June. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and staff with Good Samaritan Hospice Services for their care and concern. Funeral services will be conducted from Lighthouse Baptist Church 11 a.m. Monday with Pastor Mark Stugelmeyer officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice Services. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Lighthouse Baptist Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
